ello,
I have recently been in Africa with UNICEF. To be precise, I went to Mozambique and Malawi, two countries among the most hit by the HIV/AIDS pandemy.
Read my trip diary on the UNICEF Italy web site
Before leaving I already knew that AIDS hits millions of children in Africa, killing more than any war. What I did not know – and I discovered during my trip – is that AIDS can be fought and defeated, with the help of everyone.
Let me tell you as an instance that the antiretroviral drug, which can prevent the HIV transmission from mother to child, costs just 0,56 €: such a small amount of money can save a life!
UNICEF has launched a Global Campaign to protect children from this disease. It is named “Unite for Children, Unite against AIDS”, and I am proud to be one of its testimonials for Italy.
One of the Campaign’s target is to widen the access to drugs which prevent the mother-to-child transmission of the virus.
I deeply believe in the importance of this campaign and share its objectives: my donation is at work, but throughout Africa millions of children and millions of mothers need our help.
During my trip I met many heroes: men and women supporting mothers and children to fight the disease in their daily life, in city hospital as well in the most remote village…
Today I ask you to be a hero for these children, making a donation for UNICEF Campaign “Unite for Children, Unite against AIDS”…
